This fall I have been taking Elements of Design, a class that focuses on form, shape, balance in three dimensional forms.  For this assignment we were first asked to make a structure, consisting of three 4x8 folded notecards in the same arrangement placed together three times.  We later added an everyday element to the structure and the hope was that the object would loose its "thing-ness."  You should not be able to tell that these are matches.  ; )

The grand fiale in my Design Communication class was two point perspective.  I really enjoyed making these drawings and selecting the finishing details.  I had not learned the proper stair technique yet, something that I have been getting a good deal of practice with lately.  I have been loving the Ivy here in LA, so many buildings covered in wonderfully green walls.  I could not resist the opportunity.

My mom has been talking about redesigning her bathroom for years now so this summer was a great chance to slip in some real life inspirations and challenges into my bathroom orthographic & perspective assignment.  The best part is that the remodel is actually going to happen so there is more to come! Summer 2011

This is my first one-point perspective from my summer Design Communication class.  The ceiling detail and the herringbone brick in the fireplace are what make the space for me.

To help get us thinking about plan, section, and elevation, our teacher had us illustrate these views by drawing a pepper.

In my summer Adobe Illustrator class we were asked to create a poster about an inspiring designer.  I chose Edith Heath of Heath ceramics, a designer that I think has wonderful simplicity and elegance.  This was a really fun project to test my new skills!
